Taiwanese carrier fires pilot who failed alcohol test taken before flight to Hong Kong 

Taiwan’s China Airlines has ­decided to sack a pilot who failed an alcohol test before stepping into the cockpit to operate a flight from Taichung to Hong Kong. The Flight AE1817, operated by China Airlines subsidiary Mandarin Airlines, was delayed for two hours because of the incident at lunchtime on Tuesday. Pilot jailed for boarding plane while over legal alcohol limit 

An airline pilot has been sentenced to 10 months in prison after he admitted boarding a flight while over the legal alcohol limit. Carlos Roberto Licona, from Texas, United States, was expected to fly as First Officer on a United Airlines flight to Newark, New Jersey, from Glasgow Airport. Two pilots have appeared in court after being arrested at Glasgow Airport on suspicion of being impaired through alcohol. Ecstasy and MDMA is getting stronger with dangerously "pure" pills and crystals in circulation, it's claimed. 

There's a new warning from the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA). NEW YORK — A commercial pilot was under the influence of alcohol while flying a JetBlue airliner carrying 151 passengers last year from Orlando to New York City, federal prosecutors said Wednesday. More than 900 arrests for drug-driving 

More than 900 motorists have been arrested on suspicion of drug-driving since a new offence was introduced in March, figures suggest. Roadside drug tests reveal high number of drivers test positive 

In March, new rules came into force in England and Wales aimed at stopping people driving while under the influence of drugs.

Nearly three months on, 45% of drivers pulled over in London were found to have taken illegal substances, while 52% of drivers tested in South Yorkshire tested positive for drugs.
