Pilot of private plane escorted off the jet and arrested for 'flying while drunk' after landing at airport 

A pilot of a private plane was arrested over concerns about the amount of alcohol in his blood yesterday - just two days after another similar incident. Ian Jennings, 47, from Gosport, Hampshire, was arrested at Norwich Airport yesterday afternoon after landing a commercial chartered plane. He has been charged with performing an aviation function when the alcohol in his breath was over the prescribed limited, Norfolk Police said. Read more here read more

'Drunk' Flybe pilot arrested before flight 

A Flybe pilot was removed from a plane and arrested on suspicion of being over the drink-drive limit just before he was due to fly. The pilot was due to fly from Newquay Airport in Cornwall to London Gatwick on Wednesday morning before he was removed for a breath test. A police source told the BBC that officers were alerted after a fellow crew member became concerned. A police spokesman confirmed a 48-year-old man was arrested. Read more here  read more

Workplace drug testing 'on the rise', say providers 

Workplace drug testing has increased significantly in the UK, four leading screening companies have said. They have seen rises in the number of annual tests carried out of between 40% and 470% over four years. Workers cannot be made to take a drugs test, but if they refuse when the employer has good grounds for testing, they may face disciplinary action. Read more on BBC News here read more
